BUSINESSES in Peterborough looking to enhance their company’s environmental reputation are being invited to support a city-based wildlife conservation charity at a fun-filled event in April.

On Saturday April 2 Froglife will hold its ‘An Evening at Toad Hall’ event at the Orton Hall Hotel in Peterborough. The event will be hosted by naturalist and BBC wildlife presenter Mike Dilger (left) and features a spectacular auction presented by snooker legend Willie Thorne (right). Prizes include:

  • a trip for two to South Africa
  • a week in Wales
  • bespoke jewellery
  • original artwork from the animated children’s TV classic Bagpuss
  • tea with handsome environmentalist, entrepreneur, writer and MP Zac Goldsmith (below)
  • beauty treats

The evening will continue with lots of fun and silly games including Scalextric racing and toad bingo!

Froglife is a national wildlife charity committed to the conservation of amphibians and reptiles – frogs, toads, newts, snakes and lizards – and saving the habitats they depend on. Froglife relies on support from businesses and individuals and holds a number of fun fundraising events through the year to raise money build awareness for its work.

Profits from the night go to the Tuppence a Toad campaign. Froglife has been coordinating the Toads on Roads project since the 1980s, with hard working volunteers across the country going out to save toads from death on the roads. The small amphibians go back to their breeding ponds year after year, regardless of anything in the way. It is estimated that 20 tonnes of toads are killed a year, with volunteers saving over 70,000 toads in 2010. The Tuppence a Toad campaign has been set up to better support this vital work and provide the volunteers with resources.

So, an Evening at Toad Hall will be a fun, quirky and enjoyable night out, and benefits wildlife and people up and down the country.

Tickets prices are £25 each or £40 for two (Friends of Froglife and Toad Patrollers: £20 each or £35 for 2) or a table of ten for £200. You can get yours from the Froglife website: http://www.froglife.org/shop/gala_tickets.htm, by calling the Froglife office on 01733 558844 or emailing tina.lindsay@froglife.org

Froglife is also accepting sealed bids for any items if you cannot be there in person. A full list of items is available here: http://www.froglife.org/tuppence/auction.htm
