STAFF from the BGL Group have raised and donated almost £10,000 to Sue Ryder’s new Thorpe Hall Hospice – enough to furnish a state-of-the-art bedroom in the new wing.
Over the past 18 months, employees have been donating their unwanted items to Sue Ryder via collection points throughout the organisation. More recently, staff at the company’s contact centre, Fusion, have also hosted a number of fundraising activities.
Sue Ryder’s Thorpe Hall Hospice supports adults with active, progressive and advanced illnesses who may need help with managing symptoms such as relieving pain, or may require specialist end of life care. They also provide support to the patients’ families.
The new wing at the hospice will boast 20 private, en-suite bedrooms, all with individual garden access. There will also be a sanctuary and lounge area for patients and their families.
Nilesh Patel, Hospice Fundraiser at Thorpe Hall Hospice, said: “We’re grateful for the support we’ve received from BGL, which has made a significant contribution to the building of the new hospice. We’re looking forward to welcoming patients later this summer, and in the meantime are working hard to find that last £1 million needed.”
Matthew Donaldson, Chief Executive of the BGL Group, said: “We all know someone who has been affected by cancer or another critical illness. Our teams are only too happy to be able to support those who care for people in this situation and their families.”
