Lynch Wood Park makes the grade for refurbishment

OWNERS of Lynch Wood Park in Peterborough have received the green light to embark on a series of refurbishment works following listed planning approval.

Asset and property management company, FI Real Estate Management (FIREM) has received confirmation from the Peterborough Planning and Heritage Department that their adapted body of works proposed for the estate had been approved.

The planning decision follows the confirmation from Historic England earlier this year that Lynch Wood had been awarded Grade II listed status. FIREM adapted its multi-million-pound refurbishment programme to ensure it would be in keeping with the status of the twentieth-century building.

Refurbishment works will consist of a series of building upgrades and improvements designed to provide a more tenant-focused offering, including the addition of 13,650 sq ft of new Grade A office space. The refurbishment works are due to start early in the New Year.

Works will include sympathetic alterations to the facade of the building which will accommodate a new office entrance and terrace for office workers to dine in. Internally, a light refurbishment has been proposed for the main entrance and the adjacent room to accommodate a new Fitness Suite for workers to use. In addition, the existing restaurant will also be refurbished.

A spokesperson for FI Real Estate Management told Peterborough Business, “This planning permission is great news for our tenants here at Lynch Wood Park who will soon be able to benefit from a fantastic refurbishment. Of course, while there are exciting changes to be made, we are committed to preserving this significant building for future generations and will continue to work in close partnership with the council’s team to both safeguard and modernise the building in the best possible way.”

Set in picturesque surroundings and boasting a highly striking interior, Lynch Wood Park is located at the heart of Peterborough Business Park, three miles west of Peterborough city centre. Developed in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the site currently totals 350,000 sq ft. and is set within 11.74 hectares. Lynch Wood Park currently houses over 2,000 employees and is home to a range of businesses, from multinational companies to local start-ups.
